In an interview with Prog magazine, Jon explained that much of the lyrical content for the album was inspired by his daughter Jessie, who was born prematurely at 32 weeks and weighing just three pounds. At that very early stage Jessie's lungs hadn't fully developed. She was in a high-dependency ward before being transferred to intensive care for several weeks.
